EXPLORING ROCKHAMPTON

Road-tripping up through Queensland towards the Whitsunday’s in Northern Queensland Andre’s family stayed over in Rockhampton. Mount Archer National Park and Lookout provides a view over the city and surrounding mountains. Straddling the Fitzroy River the central Queensland city is known for its beef cattle industry but also holds significance and place for the Darumbal People as the traditional owners and people of the land. The beauty of the land also holds stories of tragedy of the frontier wars when the Darumbal People were violently dispersed from their land.

Rockhampton heralds Queensland Architecture, colonial and gold rush history and culture, agricultural and industrial development, but most importantly the country and place of the Darumbal People and their narratives of their land.
